Growing Up

My little baby is getting so big lately!! We finally put Tanner into a toddler bed this week. We needed the crib for the new baby coming, and we wanted to get Tanner used to a big boy bed before then. We ordered a cute bed and got it put together Monday night.

I thought for sure we would have issues with him adjusting. So far, the issues have been very minor. Monday night he was a little confused, but after getting his milk, he laid right down and fell asleep. He slept really well all night. I figured he'd at least fall out of bed a few times that first night, but he didn't.

Then I thought that he would get up early the next morning and make a bunch of noise to wake Spencer up before I could get Tanner out of the room. But nope, he just laid in his bed until I came in to get him out of his room (we have those special door handles where he can't open the door on the inside of his room so he can't get out). Then I thought that nap-time would be rough, thinking that he'd just run around and not fall asleep since he's no longer corralled by his crib. But I was wrong again. He laid right down and fell asleep. He didn't sleep quite as long as I was hoping he would, but I'm sure that will come in time.

Last night was a bit of a rough one. Tanner has been having these night terrors about once a month, and last night was one of those nights. He went to sleep okay. But I heard him screaming and crying about 9:25pm. When he goes through these terror things, he's still asleep, but he's crying and screaming and it's difficult to wake him. Well, after about 10 minutes we finally were able to get him awake and aware of what was going on. He laid back down and fell back to sleep. Then about 3:30am, I heard a big crash and then Tanner start to cry. I went into his room to find that he had fallen out of his bed. I was waiting for him to do this, so it wasn't such a huge surprise. I got him back in bed and tucked back in and he went right back to sleep. He's such a trooper!

It's bittersweet to see my little boy sleeping in a big boy bed. He looks so much older than he is. He's really growing up. I wish I had a picture, but I'll have to get one or two tonight. I love my baby boy!
