$8400 and two days later we have a new roof on the house. We knew when we bought the house that the roof needed to be replaced. We were ready to walk away from the deal when the sellers weren't willing to replace it, but when we considered the other alternatives in the area, we couldn't pass up the size of the house or the 1 acre of land. So after a few estimates, we went under contract.
You should have seen the guys that showed up to do the roof. Talk about hill-billy!! I refused to go outside while they were here. Not that I was afraid of them exactly, but they were just not the cuddly type that you want to talk to. A few of them had beards so scraggly that you couldn't see their faces behind them. Nick wanted me to ask them what they were doing throughout the day, but I told Nick that as long as they were here, I wasn't going outside.
The roof looks great. Not really a change in color since we chose one that was very similar to what was already there. But you can definitely see the difference between old and new. We wanted to have the garage roof replaced, but we just didn't have the money for that. Maybe soon. So yep, that took what savings we had left, but hey, it's only money right? Now we're living in a leak-proof house!
