My Choice

I've decided that I need to start getting myself into better physical shape.  Now, I'm not going to go on some crazy diet and exercise like mad at a local gym.  I am not in a position in my life to do that with my little kids.  However, I am going to do what I can on my own at home.  I've borrowed an intense walking workout DVD from my mother-in-law and I'm going to change my eating habits.  The workout DVD is broken into 4 one mile workouts.  I plan to start with doing one mile this week, then two next week, and so on until I'm able to rock out all four miles.  Nick brought home an eliptical machine from work, so once I'm in the habit of working out, I'll add that into my routine.  I need someone to stay accountable to, so I'm going to start fessing up to this here blog of mine.  So here goes:

I did the first mile workout on the DVD this morning.  I ate about 1/2 cup of Life cereal with 2% milk.  I also shared a handmade fruit smoothie with the boys for snack.  For lunch I plan to have a half of a baked chicken breast, rice, and peas.  For a snack later I plan to eat some celery with very little dressing, and for dinner I'll make roasted vegetables and have a small piece of meatloaf.

It's not much, but at least I'm doing something.  The boys have smaller plates that they use for meals, so I plan to use their plates instead of the larger ones we have.  That way I'm not filling my plate up too much with food I don't need.  I plan to not have seconds of the main protein for dinner, but lots of vegetables and fruit.  I'm also going to start buying whole wheat pasta, tortillas, brown rice and lots more fresh/frozen fruits & vegetables.  I already buy whole wheat bread, so that helps.

I'm ready to do this.  Before I wasn't, but I sure am now.  I plan to stick to this decision so that I'm a healthier person for not only me, but for my family.  Plus I want to look good in jeans again!  So keep the encouragements coming and I'll stay accountable to my blog for my progress!!
