Initiation

Welp, Wyatt has been successfully initiated into the Fall-off-the-Bed Club!  I teach piano lessons on Thursday afternoons at my mom's house.  I put Wyatt down for a nap on my parent's bed like I usually do.  As I was laying him down I thought to myself, "He's moving around a lot in his crib lately, maybe this isn't such a good idea."  But I shoved that thought aside and carried on with laying him down.

I get half way through my lessons when Tanner, Spencer & Bennett come down the stairs after their no-sleep nap.  I was listening to one of the songs my student was playing when I heard this high pitch sound, and I kid you not, it sounded just like the air going out of the air mattress that I blew up for Tanner upstairs.  So I didn't really pay much attention to it.  I heard it again, only this time I heard my mom go running down the hall.  I knew then what happened and then I took off running.  I make it to my mom's room just in time to see my mom holding Wyatt, and both he and my mom are crying.  I do a quick once over on Wyatt and figure out he's okay, just a little scared, and I head back to finish the piano lesson.

Afteward, I go back and grab Wyatt, who at this point is smiling and cooing up a storm, and I know he's okay.  Scared my poor mom to death.  It's happened before to my other kids, so I don't get all worked up about it in the end.  At first it's a little scary when you're trying to make sure they're okay, but afterward, it's not a big deal if nothing is wrong.  Shoot, two of the boys have fallen all the way down my parent's staircase without injury, Tanner has fallen down them twice.  I know a few people who would have really flipped out on the adult who was keeping an eye on the baby.  But what's the point, it happened, there's nothing you can do about it now, just brush it off and move on.  No big deal, no harm done.  And he's just the same as ever!  I heard Nick later talking to Wyatt saying, "It's a good thing you're made of rubber!"  I had to chuckle.  He's such a goofball!
