Concerned Tanner

My mom and dad have been sick with a vicious head cold this past week, and it's all thanks to my kids who shared their runny nose germs with them.  Yesterday my mom called to chat and Tanner wanted to say hello.  So he gets on the phone with her and they start talking.  I tell Tanner that grandma is sick and that she doesn't feel well.  Tanner understands what "not feeling well" means, but what he said next shocked my mom and I.  He tells her that we're going to bring her chicken soup so that she'll feel better and that we'll be right over.  Where does he come up with these things?  I didn't once coach him on what to say or how.  He just came up with that all on his own.  Needless to say he made my mom's day!  He really does get concerned when you're not feeling 100%.  I do love that kid!!

Thought You Should Know

I love ice right now.  Blame it on my pregnancy, but it feels like I cannot get enough ice to eat!  But I sure pay for all the ice I do eat during the night when I'm up every hour!

Holdin' On

Went for a check-up today.  Everything looks and sounds good.  After a quick check, I find out I'm 3 cm dilated, 60% effaced, and the baby's head is down.  Midwife said the baby has dropped.  So what is holding this kid in?  Hurry up already and do something here Wyatt!  We're ready to have you here with us!

On a funnier note:

Earlier today Tanner turns to me and says, "I'm about to be hungry mommy."  I reply, "Okay."  To this he says, "I have to watch tv some more before I'm really hungry, okay mommy?"  Where does he come up with this stuff?  As much as I get frustrated with him, he sure can make me laugh!

Still Waiting!

So here we are, 4 days from my due date, and we've yet to have this baby!  I thought for sure something was going to happen last week when I was having multiple contractions very close together, but after about an hour or so, they stopped altoghether.  This happened for three days in a row.  But since then, I've only had sporadic contractions.  I'm so frustrated!

I've had it with this pregnancy!  I hurt literally everywhere!  I'm one gigantic belly!  This little boy has decided that he wants to just roll around and stretch and move all day long.  By the end of the day my belly is so sore.  I'm not sleeping good, especially in my own bed.  I've taken to sleeping on the couch like I did while I was pregnant with Bennett.  My feet and hands have started to swell a little bit and that's painful!  I'm just done!  I was given the choice to be induced at 39 weeks, which just happens to be this week, but I turned that offer down to be induced a week after my due date.  I'm hoping that things will happen on their own, but at this point, I'm not too hopeful.  I've never gone into labor on my own.  I've been induced with all of the boys.  So my track record says I've got about 11 days left until this baby comes!

Hurry up, Wyatt, we're anxious to meet you.  But more importantly, I'm ready to be done being pregnant!!!

Officially Broke

$8400 and two days later we have a new roof on the house.  We knew when we bought the house that the roof needed to be replaced.  We were ready to walk away from the deal when the sellers weren't willing to replace it, but when we considered the other alternatives in the area, we couldn't pass up the size of the house or the 1 acre of land.  So after a few estimates, we went under contract.

You should have seen the guys that showed up to do the roof.  Talk about hill-billy!!  I refused to go outside while they were here.  Not that I was afraid of them exactly, but they were just not the cuddly type that you want to talk to.  A few of them had beards so scraggly that you couldn't see their faces behind them.  Nick wanted me to ask them what they were doing throughout the day, but I told Nick that as long as they were here, I wasn't going outside.

The roof looks great.  Not really a change in color since we chose one that was very similar to what was already there.  But you can definitely see the difference between old and new.  We wanted to have the garage roof replaced, but we just didn't have the money for that.  Maybe soon.  So yep, that took what savings we had left, but hey, it's only money right?  Now we're living in a leak-proof house!

New Happenings!

Okay, I realize it's been a long time since I last posted, but there has been a lot that has happened.

We finally were able to move into our house the first part of March.  We got as much of the cleaning done as we could to make it liveable, new carpet installed, a new well pump put in, new dishwasher, new lights for the ceiling fans, a few new furniture items, a new washer and dryer, and a few other things put in.  It took a lot more work and money than we were expecting, but we finally got things how we want them, for the most part.  The move went pretty smooth.  We had lots of help from friends.  That we were grateful for!

It's been an adjustment living in our own house.  Mostly good, but sometimes a little lonely since there is no one around to talk to but the kids until Nick gets home.  It's nice to have our own space though.  I can do laundry whenever I feel like it during the week.  I do have to do a lot more cleaning than I use to having two bathrooms, my own kitchen, and having to dust and vacuum all myself.  But it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

Tanner has adjusted quite well to our own house.  He loves having people come over to our "new house".  He shows everyone his new room and his new bed.  Any chance he gets he's outside playing.  But Tanner is growing up so fast.  He's got his very strong opinion on how he thinks things should happen.  He'll tell you how to properly put the DVD into the player and what to do to play it for him.  He's addicted to watching movies.  Gotta get him out of that habit before it's too late, which I think it might be, but we'll still try.  He's really getting tall and looking more a more like his dad.  He sure is a bossy thing as well.  But he makes me laugh a lot, so that helps!

Spencer is just Spencer.  His adjustment to the new house was a little harder than his brothers, but he's doing just fine now.  I still struggle with his mood swings and fits, so I'm still learning what discipline works for him.  If he could live in a pile of dirt with rocks and sticks all around he'd be in his own personal heaven.  The first thing he does outside is dig in the dirt.  He comes in the house literally covered in dirt.  He still rocks on the couch quite a bit, but with our new couches he doesn't get very good spring-action off the back of the cushions.  But he still manages to get a good rock back and forth regardless.

Bennett is Mr. Curious.  It took him days of exploration to really figure out his new surroundings.  I think he could live on a steady diet of dirt the way he eats it while their outside.  Bennett had tubes put in his ears in March.  He'd been struggling with fluid in his ears and chronic ear infections and tubes were the only alternative.  Since then he's really started to jabber a lot more and say a few words.  The doctors referred him to a hearing specialist when I told them he wasn't saying "dada" or "mama".  But his follow-up visit for his tubes confirmed that he has no hearing problems, he just doesn't say those particular words.  He is starting to say a few other things, so I'm not too concerned about him not saying "dada" or "mama".  Tanner didn't start really saying anything until after he turned two, so no worries.

Nick is busy at work.  He often stays longer at work to do a study that a doctor ordered as emergency.  That's good for the paycheck but not too thrilling for me.  He's had a lot of fun doing projects around the house.  I think it makes him feel more like a man knowing that he has a house to tend to.  Nick turned 29 last month, and he told me he feels old.  I'm not sure I'm looking forward to him turning 30 because then he'll think he's ancient.  I don't know what he's thinking!  29 is not old by any means!

I'm doing just okay.  These past three months have been very stressful for me physically and emotionally.  I've got about 5 weeks left of this pregnancy, but right now it feels like an eternity.  I'm so incredibly pregnant up front that I'm terribly uncomfortable.  Just sitting for long periods of time hurts my belly.  Sleeping is not something I look forward to at night.  It's really painful.  Emotionally I feel like I'm not myself.  I despise that feeling!!  I've had a harder time emotionally this time around.  I feel bad for my family because I take a lot out on them.  I'm just really ready for this pregnancy to be over!!  We have decided to name the baby Wyatt, but we're not sure yet on a middle name.  He may not get a middle name.  Who knows.  But Wyatt we both really like, thanks to a suggestion from a friend.  I'm ready to meet him and start our new normal again!

So that's the happenings with us these past few months.  It's been busy, stressful, full of crazy emotions, but you know, it wouldn't be life without all of that.

Stressful!

I tell ya, if I had realized how much JUNK was left in this house we bought, I would have made the sellers get all their stuff out before we settled!  We thought we would only have to deal with a few pieces of furniture and a few things left in some closets, but we had no idea!  We ended up renting a dumpster instead of making numerous trips to the dump, and that turned out to be the best idea we had.  We thought that maybe we would fill up half of the dumpster, but we ended up filling it to the brim!!  I think there was literally fifty years worth of stuff in that house.  So glad to have that part done.

My wonderful mom, gramma, and aunt have done most of the cleaning of the house.  I work for about an hour and I'm spent being that I'm 6+ months pregnant.  Plus I haven't been able to focus all my attention on the house since someone has to focus their attention on the kids.  There is light at the end of the tunnel.  Just a few minor things to do and we're done!

The house looks and smells 100% different.  We had new carpet put in yesterday in part of the house and washed the carpet in the other part.  So we're move-in ready pretty much.  That all happens this weekend.  I'm trying to get all the new bedding and towels washed now so that their ready for when we get in the house.

I'm ready to be moved in so that we can get all this stress off us.  Me mostly.  It's been frustrating that I haven't been able to help more than I have.  Plus moving should not be allowed to be stressful because it just causes all kinds of problems between husband and wife.  Ready for all of this to be over with!!
